Developing nations risk being left behind in the global energy transition as limits to energy access leaves regions across Africa and Asia without reliable electricity. Simultaneously in North America, utilities are struggling to adapt to unprecedented load growth driven by data centers, EV adoption, new housing and more. From minigrid operators to large-scale utilities, teams are often operating without data or insights into the grid, deployed assets or customer behavior – leaving them blind as they navigate a quickly evolving energy landscape.
To enable reliable access to electricity in the Global South and the US, SparkMeter delivers on-demand grid insights and visualizations to underequipped utilities through its data-driven software and smart meter technology – helping to improve operations, lowering customer costs, and increasing renewable energy adoption.
A global gridtech provider that helps utilities modernize, maximize and monetize their assets, SparkMeter has been featured in more than 50 articles in top-tier business, finance, technology and trade publications, including Bloomberg, Forbes, Fast Company, and Smart Energy International.
Within two months of announcing a partnership with Honeywell, SparkMeter debuted its first US contracts with three prominent utilities: SECO Energy, Cuivre River Electric Cooperative and Rochester Power Utilities. Meanwhile in Africa, SparkMeter announced three new contracts in Somalia in June 2024 to deliver electricity to more than 75,000 Somalis. In partnership with Power Africa and Mission 300, SparkMeter has supported dozens of minigrids projects across Africa as part of a continent-wide initiative to bring reliable electricity generation capacity to more than 300 million Africans by 2030.
