Climate threats and extreme weather have grown more acute in recent years, as America’s infrastructure and energy systems age. The number one barrier for communities to take climate action is access to affordable financing. A novel new civic-tech approach, Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE), was designed to meet today’s climate challenges and democratize clean, renewable energy and resilient infrastructure for all. Our goal was a massive education and awareness program designed to help cities, homeowners and businesses gain access.
The PACE model, a cornerstone of the Obama Administration’s Clean Energy For All Initiative, is helping property owners increase their home equity with upgrades like solar, energy and water efficiency, seismic retrofitting, and extreme weather protection. Ygrene an early PACE pioneer and national leader, has shown communities across the United States how PACE is a bipartisan initiative, because of the overwhelming community benefits.
- Demonstrate real-world impact, policy goals and strong stakeholder support.
- Highlight successes in “Faces of PACE” campaign.
- Secure speaking positions at top financial industry conferences to raise awareness for the asset class in investor circles
- Work with Ygrene partners as PACE evangelists to highlight their use of the program.
Through a campaign centered on consumer and investor education, Ygrene has been able to garner attention for PACE financing from top-tier publications such as Wall Street Journal and Bloomberg, as well as political support from President Obama and other leading representatives on both sides of the aisle. Ygrene was able to insert itself into on-going dialogues in the solar and construction industry with byline placements.
